The important role that plastics can play in the drive towards net zero and a circular economy will be highlighted by two major presentations from Berry Global Flexibles at the forthcoming Sustainability in Packaging Europe conference, being held in Barcelona from 8-10 October.
In Circular Solutions towards Net Zero, Tony Nawar, Vice President, Flexibles – Sustainability, Innovation and Strategy, will showcase a series of initiatives and case studies from Berry that help support companies’ net zero and PPWR commitments. Innovations Driving Circularity in Packaging from Innovation Director Jagan Mohanraj will examine the latest developments in mechanical plastics recycling and how they can help packaging achieve circularity.
Berry’s position as both a recycler and converter of flexible and rigid plastics in Europe will enable event attendees to gain a comprehensive perspective of both the challenges and opportunities for plastics in the development of sustainable packaging solutions.
"We are delighted to participate in Sustainability in Packaging Europe,” said Tony Nawar. “Effective collaboration and partnership across the supply chain is fundamental to achieving a circular economy. The knowledge exchange and networking opportunities offered by this important event will help businesses meet their collective goals. As companies continue to develop their sustainability strategies, commitments and targets, plastics are very much part of the solution, so we look forward to sharing our latest developments and insights."
The conference will allow Berry to detail several of its latest products and technical initiatives. The company’s recently launched Omni® Xtra polyethylene cling film for fresh food applications provides a high-performance alternative to traditional PVC cling films. Meanwhile, NorDiVent® form-fill-seal (FFS) film for the effective protection of powdered products, now incorporates up to 50% recycled plastic content, using Berry’s range of Sustane® Recycled Polymers.
Sustainability in Packaging Europe is the only dedicated European packaging event designed to offer a 360 perspective on the key challenges and solutions the supply chain is faced with to evolve towards a circular economy. Over 600 people attended the 2023 event.
