EVANSVILLE, IND. – Oct. 9, 2008 – Berry Plastics Corp. today demonstrated its commitment to providing its customers with advancing packaging capabilities with a significant investment in new equipment and technology from Gloucester Engineering for its stretch film operations. The upgrades and operational reconfiguration include the ability to produce state-of-the-art 11-layer stretch film for customers who rely on getting their precious cargo shipped to point-of-use, whether it’s across the country or around the world.
Stretch film is used in virtually all industries, including consumer products, pharmaceutical, automotive, and many others, to wrap products for shipping from the warehouse to point-of-use. The equipment investment by Berry Plastics reinforces its leadership in stretch film technology and helps ensure customers that their products will arrive intact, significantly reducing product damage from shipping hazards and positively impacting their bottom line.
“The capital investment in our new Gloucester Engineering multilayer cast film extrusion line, for example, is one big step of many that Berry has made in the last 12 months to reinforce our industry leadership in developing high-end stretch film products,” said John Matuscak, president, Flexible Films, Berry Plastics Corporation. “Our commitment to advanced manufacturing technology assures our customers they can be confident that our stretch film products will provide reliable performance through the harshest of shipping environments.”
The new stretch film will be manufactured at the company’s Pryor, Okla., facility and available for purchase in the second quarter of 2009.
