As a leader in decoration, Berry Global announced its acceptance of two awards from the Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) annual Excellence in Flexography Awards.
Berry began its long history of winning the prestigious FTA awards in 2012. Known for its excellent print clarity and attention to detail, customers look to Berry to produce highly decorated packaging with high-impact shelf presence.
“Receiving recognition for our decoration capabilities reinforces the pride we have in supplying beautifully decorated products to our customers. With expert knowledge of printing processes and manufacturing, our team overcame difficult-to-print designs and achieved top quality in the decoration of these products,” said Jennye Scott, VP of Global Creative Services for Berry.
Winning Gold for the narrow web, line, film category, Berry is recognized for its decoration on the Kao USA Inc. Jergens® Melanin Glow tube. In addition to excellent decoration, the Jergens tube contains over 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic. This print shown on the Jergens tube uses a combination of process inks and spot colors with a gold cold foil accent and soft touch coating. Overcoming challenging material attributes, the Creative Services team at Berry provided the Jergens brand with optimal decoration consistency needed to properly show the nature-based image with a range of light and dark tones.
Berry also received the Silver award for the decoration of Kirk’s Natural LLC’s South of France Shea Butter Cream tube. For this package, the flexographic print involved a challenging vignette and high-contrast process images. The South of France tube also contains over 30% PCR.
Both awarded items feature a direct print on a laminate substrate as opposed to printing on film and laminating to substrate. Berry is a vertically integrated tube manufacturer, managing the process from sheet extrusion to decoration. In this specific print, Berry monitored the products beginning in lamination, increasing the company’s understanding of variances in sheet lamination and texture’s impact on printing.
